Talking With a Coworker

I was talking with my coworker today... about how sometimes you're sitting at your desk, and your wonder to yourself, "What am I doing?"

"I should be out there in the world, doing something for my cause."

Sometimes you just feel that what you're doing is so insignificant to the big picture... Unfortunately, I am not rich, and still have many loans/bills to pay.

I vowed to myself that I will not let this become an excuse, however. And although people will point and say, "If you really believe in it, why not quit your job and go plant some trees!" I can rest assured that at least I am trying, at least I am doing the most that I can right now.

Still, sometimes I still sit there and wonder, "What am I doing?"

Second Part of Climate Report to be Released

excerpt:
A key element of the second major report on climate change being released Friday in Belgium is a chart that maps out the effects of global warming with every degree of temperature rise, most of them bad.

There’s one bright spot: A minimal heat rise means more food production in northern regions of the world.

However, the number of species going extinct rises with the heat, as does the number of people who may starve, or face water shortages, or floods, according to the projections in the draft report obtained by The Associated Press

Some scientists are calling this degree-by-degree projection a “highway to extinction.”

2000 of the smartest people in the world are warning us about impending danger. Why do some of us still do not listen?

Inconvenient Truth

Inconvenient Truth - by David Guggenheim and Al Gore

It was the documentary that got the ball rolling for me. If you have not seen it, borrow it, rent it, buy it, somehow get a hold of it and watch it.

I always tried to recycle and not be wasteful, but I never knew nor understood the urgency, the immediacy of our problem. The Earth is our home, and we must protect it.
